Welcome to Desi Saver. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy document outlines the types of information collected by Desi Saver and how we handle it. We are committed to protecting your personal data and being transparent about our practices.

Note: Desi Saver follows a "Local-First" approach. All your data (statuses, deleted messages, scanned results) stays on your mobile device and is NEVER uploaded to our servers.

1. Information We Collect and Use

A. Media Files (Photos & Videos)

To provide the core "Status Saver" feature, the app requires access to your device's media storage. It reads the temporary status files created by WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. This allows you to view, play, and permanently save them to your gallery in the Downloads/DesiSaver folder.

B. Notification Data (Deleted Messages)

To recover deleted messages, Desi Saver uses the Notification Listener Service. Our app reads incoming WhatsApp notifications and creates a local backup of the message text. This data is strictly private and stored only on your mobile device.

C. Camera Access

Our app requires Camera permission solely for the QR & Barcode Scanner feature. The camera is only active when you are using the scanner screen. We do not record videos or take photos in the background.

D. Device Information

We may collect basic non-personal information such as device model, OS version, and language settings to improve app performance and ensure the best experience for our 22+ supported languages.

2. Data Storage and Security

  • Zero Cloud Storage: We do not operate any cloud servers. Your chat backups and saved media are 100% local.
  • User Control: You have full control over your data. Deleting the app or clearing its data will permanently remove all recovered messages stored within the app.
  • Security: Since data is stored locally, it is protected by your phone's own security systems (fingerprint, pin, etc.).

3. Permissions Explained

  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO: To access and save WhatsApp statuses on Android 13+.
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: For older Android versions to access statuses.
  • BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE: To detect and backup incoming messages for recovery.
  • CAMERA: To scan QR codes and barcodes.
  • VIBRATE: To provide haptic feedback upon a successful scan.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising

Desi Saver works with third-party providers to provide specific features and monetization:

  • Google AdMob: We use AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may use your Advertising ID and device information to serve relevant ads. You can view Google’s Privacy Policy here: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • Google ML Kit: Used for high-performance QR and Barcode scanning.

5. Children’s Privacy

Desi Saver does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. All data processing is local to the device and under the control of the user.
